Jennings Director of Secondary Education/ Senior High Principal, Dr. Rhonda Key, began leading the Senior High in 2015 and in one year she increased attendance, graduation rates and college placement rates. Additionally, the out of school discipline declined and College Prep programs increased. Dr. Key’s no nonsense approach ensured a well-managed instructional environment was in place according to district officials and teachers. “Dr. Key has been instrumental in our improvement at the secondary level for high school students.” Dr. Key’s background as a principal, director of secondary education and as a former superintendent, from rural, suburban, to urban school districts, helped her understand the importance of being focused and strategic as she works towards school improvement. The 93% graduation rate in Jennings is expected to increase in 2016 when final performance scores are returned and the attendance rate is above 80% for the first time in the high school’s recent history. Graduation class of 2017 of 100 %; 100 % career and college placement and academic successes began with a supportive and dedicated teaching and support staff.
