About JSD

In North St. Louis County, just outside the City of St. Louis, the Jennings School District serves as the educational North Star for families in Jennings, Country Club Hills and Flordell Hills; a combined population of approximately 20,000 residents.

Founded in 1871, upon the consolidation of several independent education institutions, Jennings has enjoyed more than150 years of excellence in service to students, families and community. 

The Jennings School District consists of nearly 3,000 PreK-12 students in seven schools. Fairview Primary and Fairview Intermediate; Northview Elementary; Woodland Elementary; Hanrahan Elementary; Rose Mary Johnson Jennings Junior High, Jennings Senior High and Early College Career Academy. 

From preschool to 12th grade, JSD is known for innovating signature programs that help ensure successful, educational experiences and career futures.

Although preschool is not mandated in the state of Missouri, the JSD administration and Board of Education have adopted Early Childhood Education as a moral imperative. Particularly with the exceptional growth of technology and the use of technology in instruction and testing, District administrators believe that it is even more important that more children, ages 3 to 5 years old, get this jumpstart to education and are prepared and ready to excel in kindergarten. 

As a result of their efforts over the past five years, Jennings students and families have access to a robust preschool program and complementary extracurricular activities offered at no charge. Centered at Fairview Primary, the program also serves preschoolers at Woodland and Hanrahan. In just under five years, Jennings has doubled the number of students enrolled in Early Childhood Education. 

At the secondary level, Jennings also operates the Jennings Educational Training School (JETS), a program designed for secondary school students who need an alternative programmatic setting outside of the traditional secondary environment.
