Prop J Updates

Keeping the Jennings Community Informed!

February 2026

Proposition J Projects Are in Full Swing

The August 6, 2024, passage of Proposition J, no-tax-rate-increase bond issue, has kicked off revitalization across the Jennings School District. Projects are progressing from planning to implementation and completion. Each school and facility is receiving special treatment.

  • One of the most noticeable changes is the installation of electronic marquees at each school, programmed with important community information and strategically positioned for maximum visibility. This project also includes the installation of two new scoreboards at Jennings Senior High School: one on the football field and the other inside the A-gym basketball court.
  • Added security measures have been implemented at specific locations, including the installation of security gates, bollards (traffic guideposts) and fencing. Additionally, several buildings are undergoing parking lot upgrades.
  • Corey Hellems, director of facilities, said that HVAC systems have been installed at Fairview Elementary School, one of the older buildings in the District. The school received two 100-pound units for the gym, an 8.5-ton unit for the early childhood wing and a 7.5-ton unit for the kitchen. Other systems will be installed in more buildings over the summer of 2026.
  • All school buildings were soft-washed prior to the start of the current school year.
  • Fairview classrooms and the library have also benefited from painting and flooring refreshes. Northview Elementary School interiors have also been freshly painted.
  • A portion of Prop J funds was utilized to construct a new, 3,000-square-foot Stay & Play indoor playground.
  • At Jennings Senior High School, two 100-gallon water heaters were installed in restrooms. Two boilers and pumps were installed in the lower East Wing (E-gym side), which was not affected by the sprinkler pipe break that happened over winter break. Carpeted classrooms throughout the school have also been painted.
  • We are grateful to our community for making these upgrades possible and for ongoing support.
