Hope House
Hope House has been operating at full capacity since its launch in 2018; providing a safe, calm and nurturing environment for student residents. The project has been so successful that in 2024, the District purchased Hope House II, a property adjacent to Rosemary Johnson Jennings Junior High School, and an extension of the Jennings transitional housing program designed to provide shelter, meals, counseling and other support to Jennings students in need.
Construction on Hope House II started two years ago in 2024 and has remained in full swing during the summer of 2026 thanks to an ambitious student-led crew overseeing renovation, construction and beautification efforts. Under the instruction and leadership of Mr. Michael Daughtery, middle and high school students are involved in the remodeling and construction of what will become a new resource for students and families.
The Hope House vision is now a reality thanks to the Jennings school board's and district's, commitment and the generous donations of community partners.
Hope House II Work Day: June 4, 2026
On June 4, 2026, the Home Depot Foundation sent a six-person crew of construction experts for a day of work with Mr. Michael Daughtery's eighth-graders at Rosemary Johnson Jennings Junior High School. The student team is working on a second Hope House to provide housing for students in need while learning valuable work skills. The student team included Construction Foreman Garrison Pounds, along with Christian Hardin, Jared Rogers and Jason Coopwood.
